In 3rd grade, we focus on four units of study in science: Land & Water Space Electricity & Magnetism - Embryology
These units encourage a hands-on, discovery approach to science.
Land & Water In this unit, students investigate interactions between land and water. STC Land and Water Unit Land and Water Overview Brain Pop Jr Videos: Soil Slow Land Changes Water Cycle Brain Pop Videos: Erosion Groundwater Soil Water Cycle Weathering

| The Nine Planets | Find information on all kinds of topics having to do with outer space. | |

| Electricity and Magnetism This unit consists of five sequential investigations, each designed to introduce or reinforce concepts in physical science. This site is from our science "program" and gives students vocabulary and activities to work on related to the unit.

Embryology Unit Third graders receive fertilized eggs from the Delaware County 4H in the spring. Students learn about the developing eggs and watch the eggs hatch into chicks. When the chicks are about a week old, they return to the farm. | Chick Information | This site has diagrams of the inside of the egg and what is happening on each day inside the egg. It also has definitions of many chick and egg-related vocabulary words. |
