Dr. Angela Gilbert Director of Teaching & Learning for Elementary Education

Dr. Gilbert’s career in education began in 1977 as a teacher at Reizenstein Middle School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Since then she has educated students at every grade level, from pre-kindergarten to post secondary, in four school districts Pittsburgh Public Schools, Prince Georges County Public Schools, the School District of Philadelphia and Rose Tree Media. In addition to her classroom experiences, Dr. Gilbert served as a supervisor of a special education pre-school program for two years, the principal of an elementary school for nine and a half years and a central office administrator in the School District of Philadelphia for four years. She is currently an adjunct faculty member in the Graduate School of Education at Gwynedd Mercy College, serving as a practicum supervisor for aspiring principals. Dr. Gilbert has also served as an educational speaker, workshop leader and conference presenter, both regionally and nationally, committed to the charge of raising pertinent issues in education in ways that enhance the academic lives of students. She received her B.S. from Duquesne University (1977), an M.Ed. from the University of Pittsburgh (1980), an M.S. from Saint Josephs University (1993) and her Ed.D. from Widener University (2005). She has served as the Director of Teaching and Learning for Elementary Schools since September 2006.

Dr. Steve Taylor – Director of Teaching & Learning for Secondary Education 

Dr. Taylor has spent his entire career in Rose Tree Media.  He started teaching English at Penncrest High School in 1980, and he taught English there until 2005.  He has coached men’s basketball, soccer, and track, and served as a class sponsor for ten years.  He served as Assistant Principal for one year and teacher-on-assignment for eight years.  In those positions, he filled a wide variety of roles, including PSSA School Coordinator, editor of the Course Selection Guide, Internal Coordinator for the AFG Plan, master scheduler, overseer of the Independent Study Program, scheduler of final exams, organizer of the annual Alumni Reunion, and planner of the annual Academic Excellence Banquet.  He also served as Federal Programs Coordinator for Rose Tree Media for 12 years.  Outside of RTM, Dr. Taylor has taught for Delaware County Community College, Penn State Brandywine, and Temple University.  Dr. Taylor earned a B.A. from Dartmouth College (1978) in English, an M.A.T. in English Education from the University of Chicago (1980), and a Ph.D. in Reading/Writing/Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania (1995).  He has served as Rose Tree Media’s Director of Teaching & Learning for Secondary Education since 2005.
