Professional History:

This is my 21st year teaching. In 2000, I began teaching 3rd grade at Rose Tree Elementary School.  I then taught AGP for three years in the District.  Since 2012 I have been teaching 3rd grade again, but at Media Elementary. I am very excited to work with such wonderful colleagues, parents, and students.

I attended Bloomsburg University where I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and completed my Masters of Science in Educational Leadership at Neumann College. I served on the Arcadia Inclusion Institute team at Rose Tree Elementary School and have also worked with PDE (Pennsylvania Department of Education) for the past ten years on various PSSA committees. In the spring of 2012, I took a half year sabbatical leave and took courses in gifted education, brain-based learning, and children's literature. In August 2014, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Columbia University's Teachers College Reading and Writing Project Summer Reading Institute. It was a remarkable professional learning experience for me that will truly enhance the ways in which I teach literacy in the classroom. I now serve as Media Elementary's math coordinator and have worked as a team leader for third grade, and hosting student teachers multiple times.

Personal History:

I live approximately 50 minutes away in Thorndale (Coatesville Area School District, Chester County) with my husband Tony, and our daughters, Alison (10th grade), Emma (8th grade) and Katie (3rd grade). Tony is the Township Manager in Upper Uwchlan Township, Chester County.

In my free time I like to exercise, watch sports (in particular the Phillies, Eagles, Flyers, and PSU), bake, play games, listen to music, and spend lots of time with family and friends! I love the beach, camping, going to West Chester, Philadelphia and Disneyworld. My favorite place to visit is Maine, in particular Acadia National Park area and coastline.

I have wanted to be a teacher since 1st grade. I believe that each child is a valuable member of our classroom and that students are there to celebrate each others' successes and help each other with their challenges. My goal is to help students grow and reach their full potential. I believe in a growth mindset and that effort matters more than ability. Each day I am grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference in students' lives and them in mine. I love what I do! I look forward to a great year with each child and family!
