The Rose Tree Media Simon Youth Academy (RTMSYA) provides students with an alternative learning option to meet their academic high-school graduation requirements. At RTMSYA, students benefit from a technologically-sophisticated learning environment and from extra attention and support provided by teachers due to the RTMSYA’s low student/teacher ratio. In addition to learning core academic subjects, students work on acquiring experiences and necessary skills that are aligned with their post-high school goals. Individualized academic plans provide real-life learning opportunities in the community that include job shadowing, internships, and employment. Rose Tree Media School District partners with the Simon Youth Foundation to provide this student-centered, flexible learning experience. Students who attend RTMSYA are eligible for generous scholarship and grant opportunities through Simon Youth Foundation.
Students who elect to attend the RTMSYA make a choice to participate in an individualized, self-paced program using a web-based academic software program called GradPoint. Students must meet the same graduation requirements in core academic areas necessary for all students to earn a high school diploma from the Rose Tree Media School District. The computer assisted, self-paced nature of the academic program not only allows many of the students to acquire credit at an accelerated pace but also supports both credit recovery and credit acquisition. The RTMSYA is an environment that fosters responsibility, respect, discovery, and the development of life-long learners.
