Students are the center of an educational program where the opportunity to succeed is encouraged by the entire staff at Springton Lake.  The educational program at the Middle School is designed to provide our early adolescent learners with a variety of experiences that help them to push the limits of their potential, become strong self-advocates and see themselves as valued and responsible members of their school environment.  Just over 900 students attend Springton Lake.

Academic and special area courses are conducted during a nine-period day including a period for enrichment and additional support. The curriculum includes instruction in language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, world language (French or Spanish), physical education, health, art, music, consumer science, STEM, media literacy and visual and graphic design.  Support services in reading or special education are offered. Accelerated math and enhanced language arts are available for those who qualify.

Report cards are issued four times a year in November, February, April and June.

Guidance services, including a Student Assistance Program, are available to provide services to students and their parents/guardians.

Interscholastic sports begin in seventh grade and include football, wrestling, track, lacrosse tennis, field hockey, volleyball, basketball, cheerleading, softball, cross country, soccer and baseball.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in a variety of school-sponsored activities including sixth grade intramurals, clubs and social events such as school dances.

Students entering the sixth grade are required to have a physical which may be administered by the family physician.  Dental exams are required when children enter seventh grade.  Screening for scoliosis and hearing takes place in seventh grade.

Parents of students in grades six through eight are invited to meet their child's teachers at Springton Lake's annual Back-to-School Nights held in the fall. Parents are encouraged to contact their child’s guidance counselor if they have a concern or wish to meet with a grade level team.

An active parent teacher group (PTG) at Springton Lake provides a liaison between parents, teachers, administrators and the community.  The school and community work closely together to enhance the social, cultural and instructional opportunities of the students.  Parents are encouraged to attend the PTG meetings.
