The Rose Tree Media Simon Youth Academy provides an alternative learning option for students to meet academic requirements to earn a high school diploma in a technologically sophisticated learning environment. Students benefit from the attention and support of a low student/teacher ratio and individualized academic plans that provide real-life learning opportunities in the community that include job shadowing, internships, and employment. In addition to learning core academic subjects, students work on acquiring experiences and the necessary skills that are aligned with their post-high school goals. Rose Tree Media School District partners with Simon Youth Foundation to provide a student-centered, flexible learning experience. Students, who attend Rose Tree Media Simon Youth Academy, are eligible for scholarship and grant opportunities through Simon Youth Foundation.
Students who elect to attend the RTMSYA make a choice to participate in an individualized, self-paced program using a web-based academic software program called GradPoint. Students must meet the same graduation requirements in core academic areas necessary to earn a high school diploma from the Rose Tree Media School District. The computer assisted, self-paced nature of the academic program allows many of the students to acquire credit at an accelerated pace and supports both credit recovery and credit acquisition. The RTMSYA is an environment that fosters responsibility, respect, discovery, and the development of life long learners.
