Glenwood Scrip Program - Not currently availableAre you interested in volunteering your time to run this program? If so please contact Sue Flebbe or anyone else on the PTG Board. We need your help!
What Is Scrip and How Does it Help Glenwood Elementary School?
Scrip is a popular fundraiser because families don’t have to sell anything OR buy anything they wouldn’t ordinarily buy. Scrip is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase scrip, you’re purchasing gift cards or gift certificates that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials, and with every purchase, you earn money for Glenwood Elementary School.
How Scrip Works
You buy the gift cards with cash, check or money order. Because the scrip is purchased up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. The discount ‑ from two to fifteen percent or more – is Glenwood Elementary’s revenue. For example, if you buy a gift card for $50, Scrip will charge the Glenwood PTG somewhere between $42.50 and $49.00, depending on the retailer. The difference of $1 to $7.50 is then Glenwood’s revenue. Throughout the year, many retailers offer incentives on top of the regular revenue offered.
To make all of this possible, the Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools and other non‑profit groups to purchase large amounts of scrip from grocery stores, department stores, and other retailers at a discount.
Scrip is "Shopping Cart Fundraising”
Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. There are HUNDREDS of retailers that participate, including lots of local stores we all use everyday – Acme, Giant, Genaurdi’s, Wawa, and stores all across the country. Please see the full list of Scrip retailers by visiting the Great Lakes Scrip website – www.glscrip.com. Scrip will be offered from now through the end of the school year - two orders will be placed each month. Please see order form for regular and December Holiday schedules.
Can I Order Online?
Yes! Presto-Pay™ is a convenient way for you to pay for your order online. GLSC will debit your checking account for the amount of the order, plus a small convenience fee of 39¢, and submit your order with the twice monthly Glenwood order. In addition, if you want to re-load a card, you can do it online without having to wait for the next order to be placed. For example, if you shop ACME every week, you can place a single initial order with the school and then reload your ACME card whenever it is convenient for you. Please contact Shelly Colizzo at 610-558-3128 to sign up for Presto-Pay™.
What Does the PTG Do With the Money Raised?
The Glenwood PTG supports all students by subsidizing the cost of numerous activities throughout the year, including classroom activities, field trips, assembly speakers and more. Please help support the Glenwood PTG.
