Achievement Center 9, 10, 11, & 12
The Achievement Center course is designed to assist selected students who have a significant need for daily support in the academic areas and/or organization and study skills. Each class may include whole-group instruction in certain skill areas, individualized instruction, and/or support in accordance with each student’s IEP needs and goals. Students who participate in school-based psychological services are scheduled to meet with the therapist during theirs Achievement Center class period. Students who have the accommodation of taking tests in a small room or alternate setting make take their test or finish their tests during their Achievement Center class. Students earn a grade for this course based upon their participation in the instruction and their independent work. Examples of whole-group instruction may include vocabulary activities, writing prompts, SAT Math Prep activities, SAT Reading and Writing Prep activities, study skills activities, and emotional coping strategies.
