  • Musicians: Remember the three tips for recorder playing in your recorder book:

    1. Position Check

    • Sit straight
    • Left hand on top
    • Right hand for balance
    • Recorder at a 45 degree angle

    2. Embouchure Check

    • Lips on mouthpiece-no teeth!
    • Say "to" for correct sound (tonguing)

    3.Tone Check

    • If you're squeaking:
    • Use less air
    • Make sure you're covering the holes
  • Caring for your instrument:

  • After playing, wipe the moisture from the inside of your recorder with a small piece of cotton cloth tied to the cleaning rod (clear plastic rod in your recorder case).
  • Clean the mouthpiece of your recorder with an old toothbrush or pipe cleaner.
  • Your recorder can be washed in warm, soapy water. It's dishwasher safe!
  • When you are not practicing your instrument, place it directly into your bookbag with your recorder book so that you are prepared for next music class!
