Penncrest High School Names 2025 Hall of Fame and Ring of Honor Recipients

Congratulations to the three new members of the Penncrest Ring of Honor and the two new members of the Penncrest Hall of Fame, recognized at an event in their honor at Penncrest on October 24, 2025. 

Named to the Ring of Honor: 

Boys Lacrosse Coach Mayne Matsinger, dedicated 36 years to the PHS Boys Lacrosse Program, including 25 years as head coach. Under his leadership, the team captured five Central League Championships, the 2022 District One Runner-Up title, the 2021 District One Championship, and the 2014 PIAA State Championship. His outstanding coaching earned him multiple honors, including 2014 Coach of the Year recognition from both Phillylacrosse and the Delco Times. Beyond the accolades, Coach Matsinger is celebrated for building a program rooted in teamwork, perseverance, and pride. He leaves an enduring legacy that continues to inspire players and coaches alike.

Will Manganiello (Class of 2014), a standout athlete and leader, was a driving force behind Penncrest's 2014 State Championship team. Named the Delco Times Boys Lacrosse Player of the Year, Will was recognized for his exceptional skill, determination, and leadership on the field. During his PHS career, he earned All-Central League honors (2012-2014) and was named All-District, All-State, and All-American in both 2013 and 2014. He finished his high school career with an impressive 196 goals and 56 assists. Will continued his success at the College of Baltimore County Essex, earning First Team JUCO All-American honors and leading his team to the national title game. He later played at Drexel University, where he was a starting midfielder, scoring 34 goals with eight assists in 42 games, and was recognized with the CAA Academic Award. Will's career reflects dedication, excellence, and a true passion for the game. These qualities continue to inspire future generations of Penncrest athletes.

Dyan Protesto (Class of 2014), who was a dominant force on the field, served as the face-off specialist for Penncrest's 2014 State Championship team, where his leadership and consistency set the tone for success. During his high school career, Dylan became the program's all-time leader in face-off winning percentage and ground balls. His excellence earned him numerous honors, including All-Central, All-District, All-State, and All-Amercan recognition in 2014. following his outstanding career at PHS, Dylan continued his athletic journey at the University of Hartford, where he once again distinguished himself as a record-setting competitor. He became the career leader in face-off wins and face-off percentage and ranked second all-time in ground balls. His exceptional play earned him American East All-Conference honors from 2015-2018, as well as the title of the 2016 American East Championship Most Outstanding Player. In 2018, Dylan's hard work and dedication were rewarded when he was drafted by Major League Lacrosse's Florida Launch, marking the culmination of an extraordinary athletic career built on perseverance, skill, and team spirit. Dylan's success continues to serve as an inspiration to Penncrest athletes, exemplifying what it means to compete with passion, discipline and pride. 

Named to the Hall of Fame:

Renéee O'Brien (Class of 1981), who, as Chief Learning Officer at the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), focuses on developing innovative instructional solutions to address performance challenges facing the workforce. After graduating from Penncrest in 1981 with a focus on languages, she earned a BA from the University of Delaware in French and Modern Languages, concentrating on literature and interpretation/translation. From there, she attended Georgetown University Law Center, receiving a joint Law and Master's degrees in International Trade & Finance, and used those to practice law in Washington, DC. Ms. O'Brien later transitioned to the L&D field and worked for companies to create learning solutions for both government and industry employees, primarily in the area of national security. As DCSA's CLO, Renée leads the Product Design & Development and the Product strategy & Evaluation teams and works with government and industry stakeholders to identify and address national security training needs in a constantly changing environment.

Mike Driscoll (Class of 1985), is a devoted family man, accomplished entrepreneur, and committed community leader. A 1985 Penncrest graduate, he demonstrated early leadership and teamwork through his involvement in football, basketball and baseball, skills he further developed at Millersville University, where he studied communications and played collegiate football. Mike's entrepreneurial drive led him to establish his own life brokerage marketing agency. He now serves as CEO of Coastal Insurance Consulting. Under his leadership, the company has earned a strong reputation for expertise and integrity. Mike actively serves his community as a youth sports coach and as Vice President of sponsorship for the West Chester East Boosters, supporting local athletics. He also volunteers with the West Chester Food Cupboard and the American Red Cross. In 2024, Mike partnered with the Andre Reed Foundation to open reading rooms in Media and West Chester, promoting literacy through the "Touchdown to READ" initiative. Guided by excellence, innovation, and a deep sense of community service, Mike stands as a model of hard work and leadership, building a legacy of success that continues to inspire others.
