October Starfish Projects

At Rose Tree Elementary, we believe in teaching our students to develop an awareness of the needs of the larger community that we are all a part of.   Each month, we will invite our school community to participate in what we call Starfish Projects.

Sock Collection in “Socktober”

More than 500,000 people – a quarter of them children – were homeless in the United States this past year. One pair of socks can make a huge difference in the life of someone experiencing difficulties  - especially with winter fast approaching.

We will be collecting socks for men, women, and children that will be donated to homeless shelters within the greater Philadelphia area. Socks of any size and color will be much appreciated!

All sock donations will be accepted until Friday, November 1.

Candy Cares

After Halloween, we will be collecting leftover and unwanted Halloween Candy for children who live in shelters and who do not have the opportunity to ‘trick or treat.’  Please consider contributing to our collection after Halloween.

Trick or Treating at Granite Farms Estates

The 4th grade students at Rose Tree Elementary will be Trick or Treating at Granite Farms Estates on October 31. The students will be bringing some cheer to the residents of Granite Farms Estates, as well as donating all the candy collected to Candy Cares. Under the direction of Ms. Williams, our students will also be entertaining the residents with some Halloween songs.
